To highlight how unfair shunning is
by joe134cd ini'm going to relate a jw family that i know of that highlight how disproportionate disfellowshipping is.
both dad (elder) and mum are die hard jw.
the son was always a nasty boy and when he got into drugs it just intensified his personality 10 fold.

I would sorta of guess if there is no money and they need some type of care somebody is going to be calling on you. Although not a JW in the real world the same crap goes on. My sister the "Princess" does not talk to me handles everything with the nursing home like she is a big shot but she is so strung out on prescription drugs she has no clue which side is up let alone where down would be. My week started at 1:05PM on Sunday, it seems my sister was not answering her phone so the nursing home called me. OH, 89 year old mom tried to escape then chased 3 nurses down the hallway, then grabbed a pair of scissors and went after a nurse. They got drs orders to heavily sedate her. Next day my sister was called to a conference I told her in no uncertain terms you will not meet or speak to anyone at this facility unless I am on the speaker phone do you clearly understand these instructions? Finally I got through to her. Basically they want her out of there. BUT, this facility made a huge blunder they submitted her reapp and had my mother sign this legal document NOW what a cotton picking minute this woman was declared incompetent many many years ago. So when medicaid denied benefits 6 weeks ago guess who got the notice. NOW, I am trying to move this old violent woman with just her S.S. payment. Guess what just hit the fan!! This Italian lady ain't happy, nursing home ain't happy, corporate office just got involved cause the Italian lady hates chain of command!! Alz is one ugly disease especially if they are the violent type. -

How do you deal with depression?
by BlackWolf ini'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.
ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.
my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

I have never been a JW!! So the comments above about evil apostates do not apply here. I love all youth and have worked with youth in my spare time my entire adult life.
How are your parents treating your siblings now, how will they treat them in the future? Do you want your siblings to go through what your going through now? MHO, your parents are being very abusive. I was a much older parent but when both of my children reached the age of 17 they made their own decisions, went where they wanted and did what they wanted.
We live in a very large state but if you are any where near either my daughter or myself we WILL reach out to you somehow!! My daughter is a teacher, she is aware of your situation. PM ME please!
Please note my prior post.
Your state has a Child mental health care system and it is free up till you are 18. Also please go online and research your state laws for emancipation you may qualify for a couple of reasons primary because of the fact that your parents are withholding medical care. The age is 16. Please PM me as to what part of our state you live in.

Never a JW here. I'LL bet my bottom dollar when those dye hard JW's are old and need to be cared for guess who will be taking care of them? Not that son, more then likely it will be that daughter they shunned all along.

LoisLane,
Thank you for bringing this story forward I totally enjoyed it. The writer is great and for a non- JW it is very interesting how especially there own children will abandoned their elderly.
Interesting they can accuse a man of apostasy for talking about 1975 when he lived through it, "what have you been reading"? Check my age you dim wits!
I also find it very interesting the JWS pick and choose which Bible verses they will use. Although I no longer believe in the Bible I so remember many mentions of honoring your father and mother. I for one had a very hateful and violent mother BUT when she was in trouble I did not turn my back on her. I have spent the last 3 days trying to find another nursing home that will take this 89 year old wicked lady because she will not stop beating up staff and running away. 15 incident reports in 1 yr 6 months. That is about right, she would call the County Sheriff every time she beat me up and that is about the same average.
My advice to anyone DO NOT drink alcohol it will FRY your brain!!

With your homeschooling and I remember you said you had a part time job. Is it possible to increase your hours at work? If not would it be possible to have a second part time job? The part time jobs would be a source of new friends and get you out of the house more, giving you added activities and less time for you to think about your situation.
The advise above is great make detail plans for next year just remember to stay out of trouble and stay away from alcohol and drugs.

Introduction - Any Believers?
by Believer ini’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

David_Jay,
I am so sorry for the pain you have suffered and still suffer from. I totally agree with your post. As I tried to get across in my previous post I feel there are several on this forum who do NOT care in the least the emotional damage they inflict upon people.
PS I may also take my leave and go to JWSURVEY for news updates because this site has become far to hostile.

Never a JW but I do understand that those leaving the Religion are seriously hurting and come here for support.
What I do not understand are the hard core attitudes on this site. I had always suppressed my life events in compartments from everyone even from my 2 best gf and my 2 kids BUT it all came to a head when I got overwhelmed dealing with my mom's ALZ. The past came out. I think my 2 gf put it best "how the hell could you possibly turn out so sweet, kind, caring, loving and such a huge heart with a past of such abuse." Their other question was how can you turn and take care of 2 people who abused you so badly? My son was 30 years old he said to me, "Look mom, I am 30 isn't about time and don't you think I am old enough to know why we were never allowed to talk about guns in our house?" Yes, my parents were totally drunk, my dad was a perfect marksman, I was 7 years old thank the good Lord the gun jammed. I watched the whole thing go down, mom, my sister and I moved out the next day.
My question to all you attack pit bulls on this site is WHAT difference does it make if someone believes in a loving caring God, the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, a Unicorn maybe it is totally misguided BUT what is IMPORTANT is the person getting out of bed and moving on with life are they functioning, are they attempting to start a new life?
When I first posted to this forum someone asked from an outsider viewpoint....
Well here goes
The attack dogs need to show a tad bit more compassion. YES my professional career is very black and white, when you deal with IRS it is right or wrong there is very little gray but when it comes down to dealing with children in trouble I do not bring that attitude. YOU are dealing with people who are healing, hurting, longing for direction what they do not need is to be constantly lectured at and put down isn't that where they just came from.
